After 9/11, President Bush called on all Americans to serve their communities, their Nation, and their world. In his 2002 State of the Union Address, he announced the creation of USA Freedom Corps and also called for every American to commit at least 2 years (4,000 hours) to the service of their neighbors and their nation. Today, the President will host an event on the South Lawn to highlight USA Freedom Corps and to honor America's volunteers who serve at home and abroad.
